Art and culture
Domburg is home to the Marie Tak van Poortvliet Museum. This museum regularly holds exhibitions focusing on famous artists from the original Domburg artists’ colony, such as Mondriaan and Jan Toorop. The Zeeuws Museum is housed in a mediaeval abbey in the centre of Middelburg. Based on contemporary presentations, the museum shows an unexpected side to Zeeland.
Domburg borders the beautiful nature reserve De Manteling, a unique forest on the edge of the dunes running from Domburg to Oostkapelle. The Forestry Commission has set out several lovely footpaths through the area. Alternating exhibitions at Terra Maris in Oostkapelle present the history of the landscape of Zeeland and the richly varied natural environment. Visit Oosterschelde National Park and spot the many seals and porpoises there.
The Arsenaal in Vlissingen is the biggest pirate park in the Netherlands. Here children can experience how it is to be a real pirate. Find out more about the history of Zeeland at Deltapark Neeltje Jans in Vrouwenpolder. This (absolutely not dull!) theme park focusing on the Delta Works a show featuring seals, a water slide and a water playground.
In the foyer and at the reception, you will find an assortment of folders and discount cards to the various tourist attractions and museums.
